Bound to Violence: A Southern African Conversation

Panashe Chigumadzi is an essayist and novelist. Her 2015 debut novel Sweet Medicine (Blackbird Books) won the 2016 K. Sello Duiker Literary Award. Her second book, These Bones Will Rise Again (Indigo Press), was published in June 2018 and shortlisted for the 2019 Alan Paton Prize for Nonfiction.

Imraan Coovadia is a South African novelist, essayist, and academic. He is the director of the Center for Creative Writing at the University of Cape Town.

Arash Davari is assistant professor in the Department of Politics at Whitman College.

Bongani Kona is a writer and editor of Our Ghosts Were Once People: Stories on Death and Dying (2021). He works in the Department of History at the University of the Western Cape and is a member of the curatorial team at the Archive of Forgetfulness project.

Elleni Centime Zeleke is assistant professor of African studies in the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies at Columbia University.
